The County of Los Angeles Speaks Out

"While very little is known about chromium six, it has been attributed to adverse health effects, including cancer and DNA damage. The scientific community has little useful information about the effects of low levels of chromium six on humans, or what, over time, are the cumulative health effects. However, it is not something we can gamble our health on.

"Water is the most basic of human needs. The public has the right to a clean, safe water supply. Public officials and agencies, as guardians of the public trust, have the duty and responsibility to protect the public’s health and safety. What’s needed is a concerted effort at the Federal, State and County level to provide quality water to the residents of California."

—County Digest, January 2001, page 8, referring to recent studies that show chromium six in wells and facilities all throughout Los Angeles County.
