Citizens need to take action NOW!

All it will take is one phone call from each citizen to their city councilperson - yes, just ONE call saying the following:

"I do not want the East Valley Water Reclamation Project to go forward unless a new, independent Environmental Impact Report (EIR) can be conducted. The spreading fields and groundwater are contaminated with many toxic materials. Chromium 6 is just the tip of the iceberg. Please do not allow treated raw sewage to be added to this mix."

If you're viewing this page, you have access to the internet. Select the list below including the commas that separate the addresses. Place this in the "To" box of your e-mail composing window. Then write your own letter or copy the one above. This message must appear in their e-mail. Don't forget to make the phone call. You can find out their phone numbers by going to www.cityofla.org or www.lacity.org.

Protest Petition

(Please, only AFTER you have taken the above action. They will listen to your phone call and e-mail before they will look at your name on a petition.)

The East Valley Water Reclamation Project (Recycled water project) needs a new EIR. The current one is ten years old and doesn’t talk about the current pollution in the valley. The DWP wants to dump treated recycled raw sewage into the spreading fields so that it can “percolate” down into the groundwater aquifers. These aquifers are polluted and should be closed! This project should not go forward!

Optional Course of Citizen Action:

Cut and paste either of the following letters or write one of your own. Print it out and send it to the various city council members (see below).

Letter A

Dear Lawmaker,

Regarding the East Valley Water Reclamation Project, the EIR used for this project is ten years old and doesn’t address the current contamination problem in the groundwater. I request that a new independent EIR be conducted on the project in conformance with the regulations of CEQA.

Go to: http://citycouncil.cityofla.org/index.htm for e-mail addresses and phone numbers for each city council person. A physical letter in the mail is also very good! Thanks for caring enough to make this contact.
